It's been a busy couple of weeks at Valuables Appraisal Service, so we're keeping today's edition of The Appraiser's Archive simple with a quick look at gold prices, a reminder to take our estate tax opinion survey, and a recap of our recent presentation to the Guardian Association of Pinellas County.
UNLOCKING VALUE: INDUSTRY INSIGHTS

Gold's spot prices have finally surpassed $3,000 per ounce. Two editions ago, we highlighted gold's then-record price of $2,954.69 per ounce. At the time, analysts were predicting that gold may surpass $3,000 by the end of 2025, but it only took one more month to meet that threshold — while writing this, gold sits at $3,045.18 per ounce.
As we've stated before, if you're not an investor and are looking to get maximum scrap value out of gold coins or jewelry you have sitting at home, now is an excellent time to liquidate!

THE PROFESSIONAL'S CORNER
As a reminder, we're soliciting opinions from estate planning professionals about potential changes to estate and gift tax laws. Here's a quick breakdown of these changes if you need a refresher or aren't familiar:
2017 TCJA Sunset: In 2017, President Trump enacted a series of revisions to federal tax law. Estate and gift tax exemptions were increased from $5 million to $10 million, adjusted annually for inflation. After the law sunsets and adjusted for inflation, the exclusion will decrease from $13.99 million in 2025 to $7.2 million in 2026. In other words, more of your client's estate or gift will be taxable.
Repealing federal estate tax: A number of U.S. politicians have introduced legislation to repeal federal estate tax.
